Fun with Scraplets

Hi there, Sam here with a LO to share with you tonight.

What I love most about this LO is the Corner Word Scraplet that I have used on it. I love the versatility of the Scraplets. This piece of chipboard in particular had a lot of things happening

I started off by applying a coat of white Gesso all over the chipboard.  I then added some texture paste using a tattered angels mask.  After the texture paste was dry I went over a few sections with some crackle paint - being sure to keep away from the glasses and the smaller words.  Once the crackle paint was dry I gave it a quick once over with some watered down white paint........... just to dull it a little bit.  The glasses are heat embossed with silver then I added a diamonte to each corner or the glasses.  The word "tan" and "bikini" were done with Smooch Ink, which I then used some water and a paint brush to give it a faded effect in the middle.  The word "sand" was covered in kindy glitz (not that it shows up overly well here), and the "sun" was covered with some tacky glue and then I used foil over the top of it.

The thing that I love about this particular piece of chipboard is that it proves that you do not need to stick to one "Technique" when using chipboard, the possibilities are endless and I love playing with Scraplets to work out new things to do.

I also have a flower obsession, and I just love this mermaid.  This paper was perfect for a LO of my daughter at the beach because she is like a little mermaid and would stay in the water forever if I let her.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hope you have a wonderful evening................. and don't forget to get your entries in for this months colour challenge for your chance to win some great Scraplets :)

More scrapbooking inspiration from Irit

Hello, my dear A2Z  friends! Irit is here with my new blog post and some more scrapbooking inspiration to share.

My first page this   time is this very fairy page made with flowers chipboard, painted with Creative Inspirations paints and clear heat embossed all over. I also added some white paint over the embossing to recieve this mute colors to fit the page.

On this page I added a Heart Swirls under the flower cluster. Also it's not very much seen- but adds a lot of interest to the cluster and points to the photo.

The last one is not a new page, but never seen in this blog and I used this corner title for my wedding page

Hope I inspired you a bit with my pages using our outstanding chipboards!
See you next month!

Photo box

Hi all,

As you may have seen in the April release previous post, I recently finished decorating a kaisercraft wooden recipe box to use as a photo box using one of the new release scraplets to embellish. The recipe boxes are the perfect size for storing photographs you may have printed for potential scrapbooking or even special event photographs. As you will see from my photobox, I have decorated it with wedding photos, so one of these photo boxes would actually make a really wonderful gift for a special occasion, such as a wedding, anniversary or birth of a baby.

Kaiser wood BTP items are so easy to decorate. I tend to use the wooden pieces as stencils for cutting out my patterned papers, tracing them on the reverse side of the paper that I wish to use. The same can be done with photos, making sure they are slighltly bigger than the spaces they will be filling so you can fasten them to the inner wall of the box. Once I have all my papers cut out, I start gluing them on with a good quality craft glue. One that does not bubble or leave wet marks through your paper. You will usually find you have some extra paper hanging over the edges once you cut this off. The best way to smooth out these edges is to sand them away. I actually use a chisel to do this as its really quick and easy but normal sand paper or blocks do the job too.

After I have sanded my edges, in this particular case I wanted an aged look to my photo box so I went around the edges using some distressed 'vintage photo' ink by Tim Holtz using an ink block. You can do this as faintly or as dark as you wish to get the look you want.

Then it's a matter of putting your box together. Once all the pieces are fitting nicely together, use some strong glue such as Mod podge or Kaiser wood glue to hold your box together. This is a gradual process as you may need to hold your pieces in place for a while or have them weighted while they dry.

Then it is simply a matter of embellishing the box as you please. I used rub ons, flowers, a doily and bling to decorate my box, and a layer of buttons to create a pretty vintage handle to open the box. The pearl strings are actually vintage also, given to me by my mother in law as left overs from when she made her wedding head piece. Then of course I used one of the new release scraplets. Chipboard shapes and words are perfect for off the page items as they create some extra dimension if wanted or fit nice and flat otherwise.

To decorate this rose, I simply inked it with a combination of two distressed inks, a red and a brown, to help it match in with the choice of papers.

So now I have a lovely photo box to store photos ready for scrapping and the great thing is, these boxes come with dividers so you can divide your photos into themes to save time for your next

Have a great day everyone.

GO WILD WITH A2Z!

I fell in love with these papers as soon as I saw them....that I guess, is to be expected seeing that I lived in Africa for 37 years ! Bo Bunny Zoology are just the perfect papers for all those Zoo photos and combine that with a2z ANIMALS.....zebra, lion, hippo, giraffe, elephants, monkeys...and you have a winning combination!!!!  I had so much fun creating these layouts; I could not get enough of them and only stopped when my a2zscraplet stock was depleted!!!!

My son, Richard, in Nepal meeting a very friendly elephant at Chitwen National Park.
Here I am feeding the giraffe at Singapore Zoo.
My eldest son, Shaun, at his wedding monkeyin' around!
A photo of me with the cutest baby elephants in Phuket. They loved the bananas we bought to feed them.

                                                     Till next month.
Happy scrapping,
Monica:)

A LITTLE FRAME FUN

I loved the new release frame that arrived in my mailbox the other day – the Picture Frame 16 . Here is how I prepared it for my Forever Young layout in this months new releases…

I firstly gave it an undercoat in white and then used Pearl Ex powder in Duo blue-green … I have painted this on with a little water … very roughly … no need for perfection as there were a few layers to the frame.

I then added a spritz of Glacier Glimmermist… lovely light coverage just to add a little shimmer

I used my Versamark Ink to randomly press on the frame … leaving some spots. Then Silver embossing powder was used and heated…love this effect

Now the frame is all ready to be dressed up with some added embellishments

Here I have added some small glass rocks and micro beads around the frame... these were added with Dimensional Magic or Inkessentials Diamond glaze

Another close up of the beads and the embossing.

I also worked on the title – this was sprayed with Glimmer mist and then using the versamark ink and clear embossing powder it was ready for extra embellishment with Micro beads also.

Thanks for popping in for a  look at my layout…
Have great week of scrapping.
