Scrapping with the kids .:. layouts with heart circles

I do enjoy scrapping with the kids, not all the time because it gets a bit stressful... but sometimes now and then.
When I scrap with my 6 year old we like to start looking at a scrap-tutorial at YouTube. And then she wants to create something similar.
This time we looked at a tutorial by Kelly Foster (Thank you Kelly for the inspiration!) and this is what we made, starting with my page:

Happy Australia Day!!

Australia Day!  What a wonderful day to celebrate all that is Australian - thongs, boardies, BBQ's, the list goes on.

I thought since it is still January, I could get away with one last Christmas themed layout.  The photo of my 2 cherubs is an older one, but one that I love and have never scrapped.

Who's got a cat???

If you've got a cat that likes to join you when you craft you'll understand this post. Like a good paper crafter I had the vision of putting my papers in some sort of logical order. This required the entire floor area of the living room. So if you can imagine, sifting through, finding and sorting them into the desirable order with one very adventurous and curious cat present. Running around, shooting in and out of the paper holders, skidding them across the floor - how good is it to be a cat!

The title, 'I'm hunting paper' seemed quite apt.

This was a fun page to do and full of mischief. The title was simple painted with distress paints, left to dry and outlined with a black pen. I don't have a steady hand for doodling but then again, it's my hand and that fact will pass on to the future generations who look through the pages of my albums. Never let what you might think is a flaw stop you from exploring a technique. It's your style, your character and not a flaw.

The background was fun to do too. I used a stencil and traced around it in black. I then used Glimmer Glaze to 'colour' inside the shapes. This turned out to be a pretty cool 'texture' on the page. Again using Gimmer Glaze in a contrasting colour, I flicked some off the brush onto the page leaving a light spattering across the stenciled area.

Material used:
Pebbles papers
A2Z Scraplets
Outline pen
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze
Handmade fabric flower
Bella Journal card
Smash paper clip

There are an unlimited number of ways to decorate chipboard. Would you like to see more techniques shown step by step?

Until next time

School time is nearly here again.

Hi, Deb with you today. It's that time again, the children are getting ready to head back to school in the next couple of weeks. The booklists are getting picked up and sorted, the uniform checked for size, shoes ..... do they still fit??? How much do these children grow over the holidays?! My family is a real mix of ages, one is getting ready for senior high school, the other is about to enter his senior years of primary school and then we start on the grandchildren! Yes, two are going back to primary school, one is starting her first year and others are off to kinder or preschool.

As you can imagine, there is never a shortage of scrapbooking material! This layout goes back a couple of years when one of the grandchildren started school. It was nice to do a school photo without yellow!

I have used the ABC123 title for this page, altering it with a simple technique of inking. In this instance I have used Encore Metallic Ink in blue. The result is a stunning and soft metallic finish.

I also had a play with some cabinet making timber veneer. This is thin and delicate making a nice elegant embellishment. What do you think? Would you like to see them on the shelves?

These timber slivers were cut in 2 different colors and here I've used a light journal piece to record the basic details of the photo.

Ballerina birthday card

I made this Ballerina birthday card for my daughters's best friend. I wanted the ballerina to stand out so I embossed it with bold green embossing powder.

The card base I made using some resist ink paper from Prima and then I added lots of small bits and papers from scrap, some flowers, cheesecloth and a metal embellishment.

Happy Monday!

Hi there.  Wow, how fast did the Christmas/New Year period pass you by??  For me, I feel like if I blinked I would've missed it!  Needless to say, I sincerely hope you managed some time with loved ones.
My first post this year is close to my heart.  It is a photo of my lovely friend and I taken just over a week before her passing.  Taken way too young.  Tracey was once my hairdresser, she was my friend, a wonderful, cheerful, happy lady with a beautiful family and so much more life to live.  Unfortunately cancer robbed her of this.  The positive I have taken from her passing is to "Treasure each day" and to Choose Happy, because I know that is how Tracey lived her life.

Some close ups of the chipboard I used.  I treated the chipboard very basically - simply coated in white paint, then embossed for a glossy look.  I wasn't happy with that so I covered the pieces Kindyglitz.

my first post for the year.....

i almost forgot my very first post for the year...argh
im definitely enjoying my holidays too much!!
love having the family all together and just being a little more relaxed.
im going to make this post short and sweet so i can get back to playing with the kids.

i have made this door sign for my boys bedroom door.
it came about after i had made one for my daughter back in november when she had written a big sign on her door when she had a little friend over.
so of course after i made her one the boys asked for one too...so i just had too.

i have used monkeys (set of 3) (love these!!!) and chicken wire corner (medium) which i have cut to make it just a line. i applied a layer of gesso on it to add texture and it is raised with dimention glue so it has depth too it. the monkey was inked and then also added to the star using dimention tape so he had a bit of swing to him.

well my boys love this and i hope you do too.
enjoy the rest of your day
happy scrapping
