Karyn's Favourites from 2015!

Happy new year A2Zers!

I hope the new year brings you much happiness and lots of time with the ones you love.I've chosen 3 of my favourite layouts from 2015, I hope they inspire you to create your own masterpieces in 2016!

First up, is my Superstar layout using the Shabby circle and Superstar scraplets. This layout was picked up for publication in the Scrapbooking Memories magazine, woohoo!

The Shabby Circle scraplet has been covered with paper and then Diamond Dust over the top. The Superstar scraplet was embossed with Stampendous White Shabby Embossing Enamel.

Second is my Beauty layout, including a tutorial. I used a bunch of charms and this funky Flourish scraplet and lots and lots of Gesso! Click here for the full tutorial.

As some of you may already know, I lost my husband in a tragic motorcycle accident in August. Out of every layout I've ever created, this was John's favourite. The photo is of him (left) and his cousin Darryl. They've always been more like brothers than cousins, they had a very special bond.

The Awesome chippy from the A2Z Scraplets Awesome Fabulous set has been coloured in with a burnt orange pen on the top half and a black Sharpie on the bottom half. Then the whole thing was coated in Dimensional Magic and outlined with a black gel pen. It's given a very cool effect.

This gorgeous A2Z Scraplets Industrial Large Corner chippy was spritzed in Kaisercraft's new Charcoal Mist with the Peach mist spritzed over the top. These mists are fantastic. Full of colour as well as some glimmer.
To get the effect around the photo, I just scribbled with a white gel pen all the way around, I love how it turned out!

So, there you have it! My 3 favourites from 2015. Now go get your craft on and show us what you create on our facebook page here.

Until next time, keep calm and craft on!

Tower Drawers

Hi all! I have a set of drawers by Kaisercraft to share with you today. It needed a little something extra so I added this gorgeous A2Z Scraplet flourish 97 and voila - now I have a lovely set of drawers that are useful AND pretty!

I covered the chipboard with Stampendous Aged Black Embossing Enamel and added a pretty, glittery, organza bow to finish.

I hope you like it!

Until next time, keep calm and craft on :)

Cards from the Craft Room

Hi, Lauren here with my first share for you.   Hope you are keeping warm on the eastern half of Australia with the temperatures taking a dip again after that fantastic snow in Tasmania.

So I have made you a couple of cards.

Love this style of card, with loads of texture in a 5"x 5" card, not too big, but loads of room to add all the lovely details and elements.  I have used two chippies from the wonderful range of A2Z Scraplets, the one at the top would be my all time favourite (but they all get a chance to be my favourite) Swirly Corners Medium and comes in a set of two.  The wonderful Congratulations at the bottom is just that, a script word for cards and layouts.

My background is texture paste on Memory Box Texture Honey Comb designer Stencil (88521), and when dry the background was sprayed with Ranger Pearl Mist Cappucino.  I have coated the chippie with Gesso and then painted with Ranger Distress Paint Victorian Velvet.  Embossed parts with  Stampendous Aged Bronze, then sprayed over with the Cappucino and re-heated as I love how the painted areas bubble and fizz just like the aged embossing powder does.

Yes I love to make flowers and the two larger ones on this card are made with Memory Box Fabulous Phlox (98511)

I love the richness of many textures and layering.  The butterfly is Memory Box Isabella and Pippi dies, such a lovely small butterfly.

Another full picture of the card to show the almost dandelion look of the Memory Box Chandra Stem (99090) to which I have added different size pearls.

A close up of the Chipboard Swirl and the richness of the Stampendous Aged Embossing Powders.

So I made another card to share with you, not as much work involed in this one, but still very pretty (yes I have to admit I love pretty).

A Wedding Shower card, with lacy borders, pearls, ruffled ribbon (tutorial at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wocnUTILmk and a lovely bow, all in tones of cream, gold and a touch of pink.

I have used a medium out of Umbrellas Set of 5 shapes (found at this link http://www.a2zscraplets.com.au/umbrellas_set_of_5_shapes.html  Started with Gesso, then embossed with Stampendous Shabby Rose Embossing Powder fairly thickly and while molten I have stamped a script stamp into it with StazOn ink and then reheated to get a marble effect.

Butterfly is Memory Box Isabella and Pippi

Thanks for stopping by and reading. I hope you are staying warm and getting lots of papercrafting done.

Celebrations Calendar!

Hi there A2Zers!
How are the school holidays treating you? We baked a yummo Malteser chocolate cake today.
Om nom nom!
I've also been lucky enough to have some crafty time, so I whipped up this gorgeous Family Birthdays Calendar
However, I wanted mine a little more personalised and to include family celebrations as well as birthdays. So I asked the lovely Deb from A2Z Scraplets to make mine with WATTON celebrations as the title instead. If you ask nicely, she might even personalise one for you ;)

I've used a lovely yellow and white chevron background with WATTON and the months painted black and outlined with a white gel pen. The Butterfly chippy and celebrations word were covered with Stampendous Shabby White Embossing Enamel

I can't wait for my next card making day so I can whip up a bunch of cards ready to send out for these wonderful celebrations!

Until next time, keep calm and craft on!

Reverse Canvas FUN!

Hi there! Have you tried creating a Reverse Canvas yet?? If not, what's stopping you? They're super easy and look amazing! Here is one I created using an oval canvas by Mont Marte, the Fly Free collection by Kaisercraft and the A2Z Scraplet Doodlet 29.

First up I punched out a bunch of hexagons with my Fiskars Hexagon punch and outlined them with a gold gel pen. They were then glued down onto the reverse of the canvas. The photo was matted, outlined and mounted on foam tape to give dimension.

The A2Z Scraplet Doodlet 29 was coated with Stampendous Aged Gold embossing enamel. I didn't have any embossing ink so I just used a glue stick to adhere the embossing enamel before melting it with the heat gun. I'm not sure if it changed the effect as I've only used it with glue, but I LOVE it! It's so chunky and bold! Check out the range of embossing powders and enamels from A2Z Scraplets HERE.

I added a strip of patterned paper around the inside edge, and Kaisercraft Ribbon Roses around the frame. Some very cutesy flowers from Scrapping Life were clustered over the corner of the Scraplet to finish.

What did I tell you? Too easy! I sure hope this has inspired you to create your very own reverse canvas. OH and a little TIP... If you want to ensure dust doesn't settle on your masterpiece, glue a piece of acetate over the frame before adding your ribbon roses.

Until next time, keep calm and craft on!
Karyn :)
