Create Art by Judith Armstrong

Good morning, only one more day until Christmas. I hope you are all organised. Christmas is a bit of a low key affair in our household and there is just the 3 of us and my son and his girlfriend who are coming for Christmas lunch.

This is my last share for 2016. I would like to thank Deb for having me on the Design Team and allowing me to share her great products with you. It has been quite a hectic year with my daughter doing Year 12 and I have gone back to working full time for the first time in 20 years!

Anyway here is my layout for today. My daughter is very creative and did a couple of art subjects for her VCE. This is one she created for her Year 11 finals.

I have used Art Stencil which was perfect for this layout. I used to create a background by using different watercolour paints to match the colours of my photograph. I also used it to create the title of my layout using black texture paste.

I also used a couple of pieces from Donna's Arrow Set Colour. The black really stands out against the pastel colours.

Catnapping by Judith Armstrong

Good morning and welcome to my Satuday share. I delved deep into my stash for this layout featuring my 2 friendly neighbourhood cats. 

I used the A2Z Scraplets title Catnapping and first painted it with green acrylic paint. I like to paint whatever I am covering with a similar colour paint so that if the top coverage isn't perfect the chipboard doesn't show through.

I used the same treatment for one of the new A2Z Scraplets chipboard cats.

To create my background I started with some watercolour paints and applied them with plastic bags to give an uneven feel to the paint. I then splattered some ink sprays around the page. Then I used a number of stencils including the A2Z Scraplets Arrows 1 stencil and a number of mediums. I used a glitter paste for the crosses, a coloured texture paste for the hexagons, and ink pads for the arrows and lines.

Year 12 Graduation by Judith Armstrong

Good morning and welcome to another weekend. As you read this I will be winging my way to the Sunshine Coast for a weeks holiday. It is a post exam holiday for my daughter who has just finished Year 12.

So it is timely that I share a layout of her Year 12 Graduation with her best friend. 

I used an A2Z Scraplets title : Year 12 Graduation  and first inked it in teal and then heat embossed some teak ultra thick embossing powder into it.

I also used 2 A2Z Scraplets wrought iron corners and painted them with silver acrylic paint.

Finally, I used my favourite A2Z Scraplets Distressed Diamonds stencil with some coloured texture paste.

Hello - November A2Z Challenge Sample by Judith Armstrong

Good morning and welcome to the first Saturday in November. It's time for me to share my take on the A2Z Papercraft November Challenge. The challenge is to scrap your paper souvenirs eg tickets, maps etc from your last holiday. Our last holiday was to Sydney and I always keep all my tickets etc. It was difficult to decide what to do but eventually I decided on this photo of me and Johnnie Depp along with tickets from Madame Tussauds in Sydney.

I used the A2Z Scraplets Hello 1 word title for my page title and painted it with Dylusions paint. It gives a great coverage on chipboard and it only needs one coat.

I also used one of the arrows from the A2Z Scraplet Arrows 4 set and again painted it with black Dylusions paint.

As part of my background I used the A2Z Scraplets Distressed Diamond Stencil and some black texture paste.

Bulldogs Open Training by Judith Armstrong

Hi, Judith here with my last share for the month. My daughter is a big Western Bulldogs fan so when they had an open training session during the school holidays she was eager to go. I just had to create a double page, something I rarely do these days, but I had so many photos.

I used the Bulldogs 2 chipboard title. I used masking tape to mask some of the areas so I could paint a white stripe in the middle, and then a red stripe in the middle of that and blue on the outer edges. 

Here is a close up of the finished title.

I also used the A2Z Scraplets Stencil - Arrows 1 and used red texta to draw the arrow heads.

Karate Kid by Judith Armstrong

Welcome to the weekend, Judith here with another page to share using A2Z Scraplets chipboard and stencil.

For this layout I created my background using the crackle stencil with some sandy texture paste. I also used the karate kid - boy title as it was perfect for this page about my son and his karate exploits. I painted the the whole title with gesso and then painted over the words in the title with blue acrylic paint, along with the belt of the karate person. I painted the karate outfit with white acrylic paint and coloured in the hair with a brown marker. I left the skin of the karate person with just a light coat of gesso so that the engraved features would stand out.

Born to be Wild by Judith Armstrong - September Mood Board Challenge

Hi, welcome to my first post as part of the Design Team at A2Z Scraplets. First I must thank Deb for choosing me to be part of the team.
I've been scrapping for 10 years now. My kids have grown into adults but I still have a backlog of photos of them at a younger age to scrap so you will see them popping up from time to time. I am also a keen photographer and animal lover so you will probably see quite a few animal layouts popping up to.

Anyway onto my first layout to share with you. This one is based on the new September Challenge here at A2Z Scraplets.

I was inspired by the colours, the arrows, the chevrons and the zentangle element of the arrows.

I used the Distressed Diamonds Stencil and some gritty texture paste for my background.

I also used the Born to be Wild chipboard piece. I first painted it with a couple of coats of navy blue acrylic paint and then used a white paint pen (I used a Posca) to create the Zentangle patterns on the chipboard.

Pretty Cards

Hello Everybody!!!


Lauren and Teddy up today!!!!  Oh we just love sun-filled Winter Days!!! At the moment we are getting mega fogs in the morning and that fog burns off to be such a sunny day, we open the blinds and let the warmth come inside.  When it is like that I love to craft and Teddy and I have been doing a bit of that lately for you!!!



So we thought we would show you a couple of cards we have made for you :)

Oh today we have used one of the A2Z Scraplets Stencils Pebblestones - Stencilets & Masklets on the background with CM Metallic Silver, and sprinkled with Embossing Powder (Adirondak Wild Plum) and then heated.  I love this result.  Also used a recent release Decorative 9 Corner Set of 2 and painted it with Viva Inka Gold, so shiny, so beautiful, so vibrant.  You could use a paste or spray from the Colour Blast range in store.

Handmade flowers by me using the EK Success Flower punch in Whale and Medium size.  Tutorial here to make the flowers.

The second card we have for you has used those fabulous words for cards that A2Z Scraplets have available.  I love them.  Handmade holes around the edge of the card, but no stitching in it. 

Lots of dies, a stamp and I love those little rosettes that I have used a scoreboard to make, then decorated with charms, flowers and pearls to match my card. Leaves are painted with Glimmer Glaze.

 

Love that leaf die, it is by Crafty Ann and not sure whether Cheery Lyn have picked it up since they took over.

So proud of ourselves with this one!!  You know I like to recycle, well I have recycled the 'outer' of the Star Set of 2 Flourish, so 3 cards out of this chippie, how clever is that.  We have coated it with Stampendous Shabby White Embossing Powder. Went with  purple glitter paper behind it, as I found some leftover star shapes in my diecut box. 

This close up gives you an idea of how dimensional and textured this card is.  I love it!!!
