Hi everyone, Kerry here to share with you a couple of layouts.

How has all the kids (and mums) coped with the back to school. Mine go back tomorrow, i love the holidays so will miss them. But will be good to get back into a routine.

This first layout i have used a masklet from the shop. I have based this layout on a tutorial from Georgia Heald.

This colourful layout i have used a heart border available from the shop. I painted it yellow.

Bringing the mini back

Bringing the Mini Back…. I bet you started to hum the tune to that Justin Timberlake song ‘bringing sexy back’. 

I'm going to start my blog post off with a bit of a story… hopefully it won’t take too long.

A long long time ago A2Z Scraplets created these amazing chipboard mini albums that were put together as words.  Do you remember the ones – they had titles like baby, smile, beach & family to name just a few. These mini albums were a great way to show off a few photos and also have some coffee table art in your home.

I remember my very first one – the beach album… I was lucky enough to have it published in a couple of magazines, it was even featured in a mini album mag. I was so impressed by these little albums that I knew then that I wanted to be a part of the A2Z Scraplets team and that my friends is where my love of chipboard products began.

These fantastic albums have not been around for a while and so after acquiring one (because I know this great lady who makes all this fabbo chipboard stuff) I got to work and created my very first chipboard mini album for 2013 and I know its not going to be the last one for this year either.

My first step was to prime all my pages with gesso. I have then given them a thin coat of aqua paint and have let that dried.

I then started to add more color layers to the pages before I added my photos and embellishments. Here I have used the Masklet Chevron 2. After spraying the mask I have used the remainder that was left on the mask and pressed it onto other pages to give a more grungy look. 

Next I chose my photos and the accents I wanted to use. I find that you do not need to add too much to the album as your photo or photos will take up a lot of the page. I try to keep embellishments minimal. Washi tape is great for this and small stickers and small metals. I also like to use twine or wire and beads on my pages as they do not overwhelm the photos.

 

Also think about using your masks and texture paste after you have added your pictures. Here i have used Stencil Flourish 2 to add a little more interest and tie together the photo and the page.

Above I have masked off part of the album and used a small part of the Flourish 2 stencil. This is also a great way to add interest without making your pages become to 'chunky' 

My final step before putting the rings in to hold it all together was to ink the edges and then add some stamping. I have also outlined all of the pages with a black pen which helps define them.\

So here are a few of the finished pages....

Birthday Girl

Hi everyone! Today I am back to share a layout that I have created as a Guest Designer for Berry71Bleu this month. The challenge was to use the May Once Upon a Time Sketch Challenge as well as incorporate some chipboard so of course I used some A2Z Scraplets on my page.

I decided to use some 7 Dots Studio Patterned Paper and elements for this layout. To start I have added some texture to a white 12x12 piece of cardstock. To do this, I have used an A2Z Scraplets Masklet with some Viva Decor Pearl Modelling Paste. When this was dry, I have doodled around a couple of the arrows. As you can see, I have used the stencil 2 different ways for a more interesting visual effect. 

To decorate the birthday present A2Z Scraplet Chipboard piece, I have used 4 different shades of Perfect Pearls Powder that were all mixed with some Texture Paste. I made the paste really thick so it would create some fun texture on the chipboard. When this was dry, I have inked the top with some Black Archival Ink.

Before I started layering my elements down, I decided I wanted some colour on the background. To do this I have simply splattered some Pink Dylusions Ink as well as some Blue Lindys Stamp Gang Starburst Stain Spray. To create splatters easily, I spray some of the mist into the lid of the bottle and then hold above my page about 30cm and drop. If you want to create a bigger splash go a little further and vice versa.

The Birthday Girl Chipboard title was trimmed to fit my layout better and I have coated the letters with some Pearl Viva Decor Modelling Paste very roughly to create lots of texture. I then inked the top with some Black Archival Ink and moved onto the Cupcake Chipboard piece that I had removed. To decorate this I have simply sprayed some Lindys Stamp Gang Starburst Stain Spray over.

The last chipboard element, the double photo frames, were coated with some of the fabulous 7 Dots Studio co-ordinating papers and then the edges were sanded back roughly. I have also sanded back the edges of all my layers of paper to add some more white distressing but then I decided to ink around the edges of some of the stickers and embellishments with Archival Black Ink to add some more black distressing to the page.

Camping and crafting...

I have been super busy of late and decided on our Camping getaway that I was going to take some time to do some Scrapbooking… my beautiful husband made room to leave his golf clubs out and pop my scrapbooking gear in … bless him.

 Once there I had some awesome new Scraplets to work with and I also remembered to pack the new A2Z stencilets and masklets to have a play with. I had a heap of fun creating and listening to the sounds of the waves crashing on the sand and came up with the Just too Cute layout of my nephew.

So while being eaten by midgies and everything blowing around this is how I put it all together - 

I’ve used these fantastic Scraplets & Stencilet -Chevrons Stencilet/ maskelet, Cogs set 3 ,

When creating my page I decided to follow the theme of the banner ends and carry this over with the strips of printed paper on the layout by cutting them the same.  The next step was to test the placement of the pictures and embellishments before I used the Chevron Stencilet – and I was pretty happy with the orange printed paper I had chosen as it picked up the handles of the scissors in the picture.

Okay with all that sorted it was time to play with the Chevron Stencilet…

I placed the Stencilet over the banner strips once they were stuck down and used texture paste to fill in some of the sections. I have used a knife to add the texture paste and i have added it roughly to the page to give added texture.

Once that was all done it was time to work on the other embellishments . Firstly I gave all the chipboard an undercoat of paint – I used Making Memories shopping bag as my color for this. Then I used a dry brush to paint some green over the chipboard pieces. 

For the next step  I sprayed some Glimmermist onto a mat and pressed the chipboard onto it to pick up hints of the color in random places.

 For the Word I found that it was blending in too much with the colors of the printed paper and the photos so I followed with a few more steps to help change the blending in problem I was having.

Firstly I used smooch to add more vibrancy – this was too bright so I then added some black paint that  I sponged off  - this helped give me the darkness I needed for the title but allowed for all the colors I had prepped earlier to show through.

The cogs were all prepared in the same way as the other chipboard. But leaving more solid color on them as to highlight them as a standout embellishment or they would get lost in their placement on the layout.

  

Finally I glued all embellishments and photos into place. I decided that the chevrons needed the white to be  toned down so I used my brown stamp pad and lightly brushed over the raised texture paste.
