WEDDING

My sister who lives in Auckland recently emailed me asking whether I would scrapbook her son and daughter-in-law's wedding as she wanted to give the album to them as a gift for their first anniversary ..........I was delighted to have the privilege of doing this and as I am going over in June to visit her, I could deliver the gift to her in person! Whilst waiting for the USB to arrive in the mail, I started browsing the a2zscraplet website to choose titles and embellishments.....WOW, there are sooooo many that are suitable for this very special occasion and as you will see, they have added a special and elegant touch to the layouts. All journalling parts have been left blank to be personalised by the happy couple.

Be Yourself Layout

Today i am going to be playing with the Nested Scallop Square frame and the Floralette Butterfly 09

With the frame I have undercoated it and then given it one coat of Making Memories Poppy paint.

Next step was to give the frame a little more depth by adding Adirondack Stream, Terra Cotta & Red Pepper Alcohol Inks.

I have applied this using the felt tool and have dabbed and swiped the color in various places.

I have added the frame to the layout over the Photo by  adhering it to my layout using tape.

The Butterfly Floralette – There was a bit of a process in creating with this piece of chipboard. Firstly i undercoated the the chipboard with white and then using crayons i shaved the color onto the florettes.

With my heat gun I melted the crayon. This was the tricky bit as the crayon did come off the Scraplet while using the heat gun.... so it was time for a Plan B - Scrape the crayon straight onto the mat and then heat... then press the Scraplet into the melted crayon -- you have to be quick as it dries quite fast.

Once dry i scraped the crayon off as the colour was too dark and not the right tone for my layout  - another Plan B was evolving here -  this then left a nice texture on the chip board.

To this i then added pastels in similar colors to help conceal where i had taken off too much of the crayon. And the final touchjh was to add some silver Microbeads.

The butterfly i decided to stamp with the Kaisercraft bubble wrap stamp. I used the Staz On Timber stamp to do this. Vanilla Breeze Glimmer Mist was then added to give a little sparkle and Adirondack Copper mixative was the final touch on the body of the butterfly.

I hope you have enjoyed this little creation of mine

Cruising with A2Z Scraplets!

Hi everyone! Amy here with another blog post and some more fabulous Scraplets to share! When I received this fabulous Cruise Title Chipboard in my Design Team pack, I instantly thought of my lovely Aunty Caterina and the fact that she had literally just got home from a Cruise herself. So I gave her a call and she was delighted to let me complete a layout for her using some of her photos from her Cruise because sadly, I have never been on a cruise :( but I do plan on going one day.

Here are the Scraplets I have used on this double layout and you can click the images to view them on A2Z Scraplets website

I was hoping to create a little tutorial for this Double Layout but unfortunately did not get it done so I will try to explain how I have decorated these fabulous scraplets and show you lots of close ups!

Firstly I have created this Double Layout using one of the Double Layout Sketches from PageMaps www.pagemaps.com and the paper collection I have used it the new My Minds Eye Caroline Collection.

This gorgeous A2Z Scraplet Palm Tree has been coated with Perfect Pearls. The Colours used are Forever Green, Sunflower Sparkle and Perfect Bronze. I simply adore using Perfect Pearls Powders and if you have not tried them you simply must as they are fabulous on Chipboard and so many other applications!

Lots of close ups for you to see the Perfect Pearls on different angles in the light :)

This fabulous Cruise Title Chipboard has a few layers of awesomeness but was a very simple process! All you have to do for this effect is firstly cover your chipboard with some White Gesso Primer and set aside to dry properly. Next you can use any form of water colour paints and I prefer WaterColour Pencils as they are easier to work with most of the time. I chose 4 different shades of Sea Greeny Blue colours. Using the 4 pencils I coloured in 4 lines across the chipboard with the darkest at the bottom and the lightest at the top. I then used small amounts of water on my paint brush and activated the paint starting from top to bottom and washing my brush regularly so the darker shades did not blend upwards as I only wanted the lighter shades to blend downwards. Was very quick and easy and I quickly added a coat of Glossy Accents and set it aside to dry again. When that was dry, the final stage was adding some Glimmer, because I simply cannot go past adding Glimmer to absolutely everything LOL. I have used Sea Glass Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels. I chose this colour Glimmer Mist simply because it is the most transparent Blue Colour I own.  I tried really hard to only spray the bottom of the title and ship so that the blue glimmer was only on the bottom and the effect is incredible especially on the ship as it looks like waves crashing up.

And a couple of closeups to see that magical Glimmer and those gorgeous details on the ship. For the Ship I also used my watercolour pencils but in 4 different shades of Grey and Silver and using randomly drawn lines up and down the ships body. The Windows etc are also watercoloured.

Lastly a quick closeup of some other pretty details on the layout.

Well that is it from me today but be sure to checkout our monthly challenge and be in the running a fabulous prize pack full of Chipboard goodness thanks to Julie at A2Z Scraplets so head on over and checkout this fabulous sketch!!!! Click here to see the sketch and enter. Entries close 31st March and we are already at the 12th March with only 1 entry so chances are looking good!

Special Memories

Hi everyone! Amy here to share with you one of the fabulous Corner Words available from A2Z Scraplets.

First up is a layout I have created using a photo of my beautiful girl Mia on her first day of Kindergarten this year. I think this is most definately a special moment, when a child first starts school and I really wanted to create some special layouts to remember this first day. To my surprise, the school sent Mia home with this photo one day and I eagerly sat down and got ready to scrap!

I have used the new My Minds Eye Caroline Collection as well as Studio Calico paper.

I have done lots of sewing and distressing on this layout and it has come up a treat! Distressing has been a favourite technique of mine for a long time but I am certain sewing is becoming a very strong competitor lately as I seem to do so much more than I used to.

Here we have a closeup of that gorgeous Chipboard Title from A2Z Scraplets. For this title I have simply coated it with my Distress Stickles in colours Faded Jeans, Frayed Burlap, Fired Brick & Peeled Paint. I love how the Stickles have dried and contracted towards the centre of the chipboard leaving the edges of raw chipboard exposed. I think it gives a really nice added touch that I never meant to do hehehehe. Always great when that happens! The finishing touch was a rhinestone again from the My Minds Eye Caroline Collection.

Here you can see a closeup of some more sewing and these gorgeous papers up close.

This gorgeous natural twine was also from the My Minds Eye Caroline Collection and checkout that sewing on the photo! Eeeeekkk a year ago I would have been too scared to do that but I am so glad I did try it as I love the effect and I will definately do it again and again in the future! And again loving the closeup of that gorgeous scraplet!

So be sure to head on into your Local Scrapbook Shop or shop online to get some of these fabulous Corner Words from A2Z Scraplets. They are so unique and add so much to a page PLUS you can even cut them into seperate words using your craft knife if you wanted! Thanks for reading along and until next time, happy scrapping!
