A2Z Scraplets are perfect on a card

A2Z Scraplets are the perfect detail for a pretty card and so are gold. That's why I like to gold emboss my scraplets.

On this card I combined with some pretty paper from Prima and FabScraps and a cut out from Pretty Crafty Stuff.

Dare to dream

Hello again!

Today I'd like to share with you a layout of my beautiful daughter.  The photo was taken in August last year for her year 11 semi-formal.  We are already gearing up for the big one this year - dress has been purchased, hairdresser chosen, just to organise other things like make-up, transportation and jewellery now.  Still so much to do….

Anyway, here is my layout.

On this layout I have used an A2Z chipboard frame.  I wanted to try something different, so I coated the frame with gesso, then applied some texture paste through the Jenni Bowlin Mini North Star template.  Once dry, I dipped my paint brush into the Prima spray and dabbed a little onto each star, finishing with a dot of Kindyglitz in the very centre.  The photos really don't do this layout justice - it is such a pretty, glittery page…might be time to learn some new photography skills I think.

Some closeups...

Wishing you a wonderful week.
Until next time,
Yvette

Embossing powders .... have you tried them???

Long time no post from me *Deb*

Some time ago we adopted a rescue dog and this was the first face we saw. Alfie had been through quite a lot but was a lovable energetic little fella. We managed to get his health back up, he put on weight and was going really well. Unfortunately it was not meant to be and sadly Alfie only had a short life with us.

The title is a custom cut and I have simply embossed it using an antique embossing powder. Now by antique, I mean both the finish and the age. I have had the powder for well over 10 years and it is still as new!

Embossing is a very simple technique. Again, both the ink and powder are quite old and no longer available but there are some superb new ones on the market. You will need a piece of chipboard, pigment ink pad and embossing powder of your choice. A pigment ink is a slow drying ink and most suitable for embossing. I have used a similar color to the powder result to get a full color finish. different color inks will give different color results to the end product.

Firstly ink the chipboard directly from the ink pad. By dabbing downwards you can use even the smallest ink pads. Cover well with ink.

Whilst still wet, cover liberally with embossing powder. Place a piece of paper underneath so you can collect the excess. Shake off excess.

On a heat proof surface, gently heat with a heat gun until powder melts. Do not use a hair dryer, this will blow the powder away. When I started embossing I used a toaster but the family got a little sick of glitter and colors on their breakfast toast! Not the mention the color and bling the toaster ended up with.

Once heated, the powders will be set. Please remember to let them cool before touching as they can be very hot and sticky. This is only a couple of minutes. The end result is fabulous. Once you have mastered this technique the options are endless. You can mix and match powders. Emboss with one color and then add highlights with another. Make your own powders from what you have by combining a small amount of a couple, three or four. Experiment!

Until next time,
Have fun and
Happy Scrapping

Sleeping Beauty

Hi all, Donna here with another little share for you all.
Today I have a bright page 'sleeping beauty'.
A picture of my daughter happily sleeping on Xmas Eve

I have used a star stencil with some texture paste which
I have then embossed with some Stampendous embossing enamel
I have used a A2Z title, Sleeping Beauty, which I have sprayed the 'sleeping'
with Lindys stamp gang spray, and I have coloured the 'beauty'
with some black dylusions ink
The lindys stamp gang sprays have given the chipboard a nice shimmer
Thanks for visitng

My Everything

Hi again! I have 2 creations here to inspire you today :)

First up is titled My Everything.
This layout was created with 2 gorgeous A2Z Scraplets chippies - My Everything and just one of the 4 Chevron Borders which I cut up into 4 smaller pieces, also the Hello Today and Sandy Toes collections by Kaisercraft, with White and Sand coloured cardstock. Inspired by the colour challenge over at White With 1.

Did you know we've begun monthly challenges again?
Kerry has offered up a gorgeous mood board to inspire us for April:

Here is my take. I was inspired by the clouds, quote and outdoors scene.
I hope you enjoy it!

I designed and cut an MDF cloud-shaped album specially for this project. I feel it suited the A2Z Scraplet - The Sky is the Limit chippy and this wonderful challenge perfectly!

Just incase you were wondering how I got the effect on the chippy, the Heavy Gesso by Prima is so thick it acts as a texture paste. I used 2 coats (with about an hour of drying time between coats) to get the final result. The picture below is after the first coat. The words were coloured with gold gel pen, which was also used to outline the entire album.

To join in this challenge, simply create your masterpiece - inspired by this gorgeous mood board, of course - and upload it here in the comments or on our Facebook page. It's as simple as that! I can't wait to see your take :)

Until next time, keep calm and craft on!
